What the heck is Zira? umm....err..... Zira
Zira is a monster... I guess in a manner of
speaking, my own personal monster... maybe my muse is a nicer name for him.
He loves to play music, he'll play anything he can get his paws on.
That doesn't mean
he's proficient he's just fearless, which makes him brilliant and an idiot at the same time.
I asked him once what he thought
about being named after a woman,
he just shrugged his shoulders and said it was better than having a passe name like mine.
I bought a computer two years ago
so now he's going high tech.
I told him he could get as high as he likes, he's still gonna be low tech.
He messes around with the computer
and makes dancey silly soundtrack music to movies in
his head (under the name Mailer Daemon). Most recently he told me he's gonna show me
how to mix his soundtracks with his live stuff (old school indie
rock) so it wouldn't be so either or.
Supposedly the album he's
"composing" is going to have a little of everything.
Hopefully by the end of
2003 he'll have recorded a bunch of songs
and given out a bunch of cdrs..
ed@spy-fi.net The goal was to find the
greatest hits and release an album for 2002. But now He's just released an e.p. which has six songs and two interludes : like a champ,
boomerang, the single malt, winter holiday, do or try, all the good ones are
faking, Beverly Hills Prekop, and I know you can’t
control yourself any longer .
He says he's sold out of the "Zira Lowtech Cool Kids Indie
Pack" which was released the last day of August. As a limited edition
including pressing of fifty which includes: 3” cdr , nametag, special
sleeve, bookmark, and a “radio-ed” pin. With
special design work by Charlie Calderin.
He has released the whole e.p. online
with a downloadable cover. He’s currently starting pre-production on the
full-length scheduled for release in early 2004. There is some sort of Zira band
playing round Miami. (Ed, Ivan, Mr.X, & Johnny) They recently played a show
with The Remedy Session, Val Emmich, Pygmy, and Stardriver.
You can check out
some mp3s at his Iuma site http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Zira/
During the course
of working with Zira, Ed started playing drums for "Bling Bling"
